
From September 23–26, 2024, Hesperus partnered with the University of New Mexico’s Rainforest Innovations to host the second Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Native American Veterans (EBV-NAV)in Albuquerque, NM.
This four-day, hands-on program brought together ten Native American Veterans representing six tribal nations to explore the foundations of entrepreneurship and small business management. Participants engaged in intensive sessions covering topics such asmarketing, accounting, financing, operations, technology, and design thinking—all with the goal of building sustainable businesses that strengthen their tribal communities.

The EBV-NAV program leverages higher education resources to providecutting-edge, experiential trainingfor Native American Veterans across New Mexico and the Southwest. Offeredat no costto participants, the program covers transportation, lodging, and meals thanks to the generous support ofHesperus, theUniversity of New Mexico,Comcast Military, andNusenda Credit Union.
Phase Two of a three-part program, this year’s bootcamp fostered collaboration, networking, and shared problem-solving—creating a space where veterans could learn from one another’s experiences and strengthen their entrepreneurial journeys.
One participant shared, “The best part of the program was hearing everyone’s story and relating through our common experiences to solve problems we face.”
